In the article "Global Warming Will Happen Faster
Than We Think," Yangyang Xu, Veerabhadran Ramanathan and David G. Victor
urge people to panic about the future reality of our planet. They began by
illustrating the tremendous catastrophes countries and people experienced in
2018 like the massive wildfires in California due to an increase in droughts.
The main cause of the predicted rapid increase of global warming is a result of
the increase of greenhouse gases and decrease of air pollution (Xu, Ramanathan,
& Victor, 2018). This decrease of air pollution plays a vital role in
shading the Earth's surface from the sun. The problem is that emissions are accelerating.
These specialists warn that global warming needs to stop at a 1.5 degrees
Celsius increase, instead of the 2.0 degrees Celsius increase as proposed in
the Paris Agreement (Xu, Ramanathan, & Victor, 2018). This excess 0.5
degrees Celsius increase could cause a horrific increase in natural disasters
and human casualties. These specialized professors discuss the "four
fronts" plan that needs to be taken seriously in order to logically
approach the issue, including "assess science in the near term, rethink
policy goals, design strategies for adaptation and understand options for rapid
response" (Xu, Ramanathan, & Victor, 2018). They conclude that in
order to save the planet, people must urgently cooperate together.
